The problem
One of the most common and hard-to-treat aesthetic concerns are skin spots (hyperpigmentations). The hyperpigmentations that result from the over-production of melanin (skin pigment) can be caused by multiple factors such as sun exposure, pregnancy, the menopause, the use of oral contraceptives or photosensitizing medicines.
Vitamin C treatment applied with mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a medical treatment that involves the intradermal administration of active ingredients by multiple microinjections to correct aesthetic alterations (skin aging, wrinkles, stretch marks, cellulitis and alopecia, among others),
It is a minimally invasive technique, that requires no preparation time and allows the patient to immediately resume their daily activities.
Mesotherapy has a triple effect on the treated area:
- physical stimulation produced by the effect of the needle (mechanical stimulation)
- pharmacological action of the solution or specific cocktail of active ingredients administered
- activation of a greater number of skin receptors thanks to the micro dosing of the applied solution
In this particular case, the treatment consists of intradermal injections of a vitamin C solution (mesohyal vitamin C). Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant that plays a role in different bodily processes. As a depigmenting agent this vitamin acts by blocking the activity of the enzyme tyrosinase, a molecule responsible for the production of melanin.
The treatment includes five sessions that are conducted at intervals of 15 days between them.
Treatment applied by microneedling.
The microneedling is a device formed by micro-needles that cause hundreds of micro-orifices in the skin that facilitate the penetration passage of topically-applied active ingredients. These micro-orifices spontaneously close after 60-90 minutes. In this specific treatment a solution with depigmenting properties (depigmentation solution c.prof 210) is topically applied. This solution is composed of various substances (tranexamic acid, nicotinamide, N-acetyl glucosamine and vitamin C) that act at different stages of the process of melanin formation. It includes 5 sessions performed with intervals of 15 days between them.
Treatment performed with a peel
melanoplus is a focally-applied medical depigmentation peel for melanin spots based on trichloroacetic acid, kojic acid, ferulic acid and bexaretinyl complex. The trichloroacetic acid improves the physiological and mechanical properties by the stimulation of the fibroblasts (skin cells). Kojic acid and ferulic acid act by controlling and inhibiting the formation of melanin. The bexaretinyl complex has an exfoliating and depigmenting action. To obtain the best results, the application of sunscreen at least twice a day is recommended during the treatment and for post-treatment maintenance. The number of sessions is determined based on the spot to be treated.
